US Allows Anthropic to Release Claude Mythos 5 AI Model to 100 Organizations
The US government has lifted export restrictions on Anthropic’s Claude Mythos 5 AI model, allowing the company to redeploy it to more than 100 approved US organizations. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick notified Anthropic in a letter Friday that the export ban imposed on June 12 over national security concerns would be eased for "trusted partners," including critical infrastructure operators, cloud providers, and major financial institutions. The approval also permits vetted foreign-national employees at these companies to access the model without requiring an export license.
Anthropic confirmed the partial lifting of the restrictions on Friday, stating it would begin rolling out access to the cybersecurity-focused model immediately. While Mythos 5 is cleared for enterprise and government use, the Department of Commerce has kept controls in place for Claude Fable 5, Anthropic’s other top AI model, and for general consumer access to Mythos 5. The company said it continues to work with federal officials to expand access to both systems, though officials have not set a timeline for a full public release.

@kimmonismusTo be clear: I personally *cannot* select it. Apparently, it is available to some in that they can select it in the model selector. And that also explains why it appears on Amazon Bedrock. But if you were able to select it for a long time,
