Cloud startup RunPod announced it raised $100 million led by Summit Partners at a $1 billion valuation. CEO Luke Piette said the company hit $240 million in annual recurring revenue in May, doubling its annualized revenue over the past five months and rejecting acquisition offers exceeding $500 million ahead of the funding round.

RunPod rents access to servers powered by non-Nvidia chips and has grown from a Discord chat project three years ago to over 100 employees and more than 30 data centers. The latest fundraise positions the platform to capture expanding demand for artificial intelligence compute as developers seek alternatives to Nvidia's dominant market share.
