Qualcomm Raises FY29 Revenue Forecast to $40 Billion on Data Center Chip Expansion
Qualcomm raised its fiscal 2029 non-handset revenue forecast to $40 billion, nearly doubling its previous target, during its investor day presentation in New York. The chipmaker projected that $1.7 trillion of that addressable market will come from silicon used across AI infrastructure, data centers, automotive, and the Internet of Things, with a specific target of more than $15 billion in data center revenue. Under the updated guidance, Qualcomm expects to reach $5 billion in data center sales by fiscal 2027, driven by custom silicon for two hyperscale clients, and aims to scale total annual revenue to $100 billion.
At the event, Qualcomm unveiled the Dragonfly C1000, a new central processing unit designed for data center AI workloads, and announced that Meta has agreed to adopt the chip starting in 2028. The company also confirmed that Microsoft will deploy its high-bandwidth compute architecture across Azure data centers to accelerate AI inference. Following the guidance lift, Susquehanna Financial Group raised its price target to $190 and Morgan Stanley upgraded the stock to equal weight, setting a target of $231. Qualcomm shares climbed more than 13% in after-hours trading.
