Sen. Gillibrand’s Son Theodore Raises $30 Million at $300 Million Valuation for Crypto Derivatives Exchange
Theodore Gillibrand, son of Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, has raised $30 million at a $300 million valuation to launch a crypto derivatives exchange, Fortune reported, citing two sources familiar with the matter. Fortune said the round was led by venture firm Lux Capital.
Separate reports described the startup as a perpetual futures, or perps, exchange. The Block said the venue is seeking dual oversight from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission.
