US Air Force B-52 Crashes at Edwards Air Force Base on Test Mission, Killing 8
A US Air Force B-52 Stratofortress crashed shortly after takeoff from Edwards Air Force Base in California at about 11:20 a.m. local time Monday, killing all eight people aboard, according to Air Force officials. The bomber was flying a routine test mission, and Boeing later said two of its employees were among those on board.
Separate aviation reporting described the flight as a radar test sortie and the aircraft as a key testbed assigned to the 412th Test Wing, highlighting possible repercussions for the Air Force’s B-52 modernization program. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
