JPMorgan, Goldman Pull Anthropic’s Claude From Hong Kong Staff Tools as Licensing Excludes Greater China

JPMorgan Chase has removed Anthropic’s Claude from the approved AI tools available to staff in Hong Kong, and Goldman Sachs has also cut off employees there from using the models. The restrictions were tied to Anthropic licensing terms that exclude Greater China, including Hong Kong, and Anthropic had previously said Claude was never officially supported in the city.

The changes show how geographic limits on US AI systems are starting to affect corporate deployments in Hong Kong, which had historically operated outside mainland China’s restrictions on Western models. They also follow Washington’s order that Anthropic suspend worldwide access to its most advanced Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models as the company negotiates with the Trump administration over overseas access.
