Mullin Urged HHS to Remove FDA Kratom Warnings While Holding Stake in Botanic Tonics
Sen. Markwayne Mullin urged the Department of Health and Human Services to remove warnings from the Food and Drug Administration’s website about the health risks of kratom while he owned equity in Botanic Tonics, a leading kratom company that could have benefited, according to a report.
The reporting was part of a broader account of how the kratom industry cultivated allies in the Trump administration. It said kratom had been tied to more than 5,000 deaths from 2020 through 2024.
