Iraq Raises Southern Oil Output to 1.75 Million BPD, Targets 2 Million in Days
Iraq increased crude production from its southern oilfields by 250,000 barrels a day to about 1.75 million barrels a day as more tankers load crude from the country's ports, according to two oil officials. The officials said Iraq intends to lift southern output to 2 million barrels a day in the coming few days.
The latest increase builds on a recovery that Iraq's oil minister said on Thursday would be gradual and dependent on smooth transit through the Strait of Hormuz. Southern output had already risen to 1.5 million barrels a day from 1 million earlier this week as more tankers reached export terminals and freed up storage space.
