Iraq Prepares Syria Route for Crude, Naphtha Exports After Hormuz Shock
Iraq plans to export crude oil and naphtha, a light oil product, through Syria after the shock that disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
The route change follows Baghdad's warning that a return to normal oil operations and crude export flows would be gradual and dependent on smooth transit through Hormuz. Southern Iraq's crude output had risen about 500,000 BPD to 1.5 million BPD as more tankers reached export terminals, but officials said a full recovery still hinged on steadier passage through the waterway.
