Panthalassa, a Portland startup developing floating AI data centers, has raised $140 million in a round led by Peter Thiel at a valuation of nearly $1 billion.
The company’s wave-powered “lollipop” platforms are designed to generate electricity from ocean waves and use seawater for cooling. Panthalassa is targeting 2027 for its first commercial units.
