Anthropic Expects Claude Fable 5 to Return Within Days After US Export Curbs
Speaking at a press conference in Seoul on Wednesday, Anthropic's managing director of international, Chris Ciauri, said the company was "very confident" that Fable 5 would become available again "in the coming days," offering a concrete timetable for restoring access after US export curbs forced Anthropic to disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5.
Anthropic shut both models off for all customers after a Commerce Department directive barred foreign nationals from using its most advanced AI systems. The Trump administration has said the restrictions were driven by concerns the models could be jailbroken and diverted to foreign military intelligence users; Trump said this week that negotiations were "going fine," though officials had also said Fable 5 could return only if its guardrails could not be circumvented.
