DeepSeek completed its first external funding round, raising more than $7.4 billion at a $59 billion valuation while preserving founder Liang Wenfeng's control of the company.

Backers included Tencent Holdings Ltd., battery maker Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd., known as CATL, NetEase Inc. and Liang, among other investors.
