Iran Targets Bases Hosting US Forces in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan; Jordan Says 20 Missiles Intercepted

politicswarworldiranmiddle-east 831 posts · 109 accounts

Iran said it carried out overnight attacks across Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan after U.S. strikes on Iranian targets, with state media saying army drones targeted the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain and the Revolutionary Guards claiming two waves against 18 military sites at Kuwait’s Ali Al-Salem and Ahmed Al-Jaber air bases and Bahrain’s Sheikh Isa Air Base. Iran later said it fired 12 ballistic missiles at Jordan’s Al-Azraq, or Muwaffaq Salti, air base. Bahrain activated warning sirens and told residents to seek shelter, Kuwait’s army said it was intercepting hostile aerial targets and later closed the country’s airspace, and the U.S. Embassy in Jordan told Americans to shelter because missiles, drones or rockets were in Jordanian airspace.

Jordan’s military later said it had intercepted 20 missiles launched from Iran on Thursday. In Bahrain, authorities said air defenses intercepted Iranian aerial attacks, but debris from downed drones lightly injured an 11-year-old girl, set vehicles on fire and damaged homes in Hamad Town and Manama. The exchange followed U.S. strikes on Iranian air defense, ground control and radar sites near the Strait of Hormuz after Washington blamed Tehran for downing a U.S. Army Apache helicopter, and Iranian claims that bases or aircraft were destroyed were not independently verified.
