Metaplanet Agrees to Acquire Siiibo Securities for $13 Million to Develop Bitcoin-Linked Yield Products
Metaplanet has entered into a share transfer agreement to acquire 100% of Siiibo Securities for JPY 2.1 billion ($13 million), converting the licensed securities company into a consolidated subsidiary that will be renamed Metaplanet Securities Inc. The deal is intended to give the Japanese bitcoin treasury firm a securities license and distribution platform to develop bitcoin-linked yield products.
The acquisition supports plans to launch BTC-linked bonds, security tokens and other Bitcoin-related financial products as part of Metaplanet’s Project Nova strategy. Metaplanet currently holds 40,177 BTC.
