SpaceX’s $75 Billion IPO Draws More Than 4x Demand as Warren Seeks Delay
SpaceX’s initial public offering has attracted demand for more than four times the shares available ahead of its expected Friday debut, according to people familiar with the matter. The company is seeking to raise about $75 billion at a valuation of roughly $1.8 trillion, which would make it the largest-ever IPO if completed on those terms.
SpaceX is also telling investors it has lined up investment-grade ratings from Moody’s Ratings, Fitch Ratings and S&P Global Ratings to support post-IPO financing, though all three agencies have publicly said they have not issued ratings. Senator Elizabeth Warren has asked SEC Chair Paul Atkins to delay the offering over valuation and governance concerns, while Nasdaq’s index rules could drive roughly $8.5 billion of buying within days of the listing; Reuters separately reported the SEC declined to comment on the company’s share structure.
