Nvidia Sees Vera CPU Demand Surpassing GPUs as It Unveils RTX Spark Laptops
Nvidia Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang said demand for the company’s standalone Vera CPU platform is likely to exceed that of its GPU lineup and described it as a new major growth driver. Huang also said Nvidia has secured enough supply for robust growth in CPUs and GPUs, while cautioning that the company remains supply constrained.
Separately, Nvidia and Microsoft announced RTX Spark laptops, including the Surface Laptop Ultra and devices from Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo and MSI, marking Nvidia’s entry into the PC market with what was described as its first core processor for PCs. Huang said Nvidia will prefer off-the-shelf Arm designs where possible rather than custom CPU cores. The expansion broadens Nvidia’s move beyond AI servers, where Vera Rubin recently entered full production and the company named Anthropic, OpenAI and SpaceX among early users of the standalone Vera CPU. No pricing or release dates were announced for the laptop lineup.
