China Court Accepts Wingtech’s $1.1 Billion Nexperia Suit Under Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law

China’s Dongguan Intermediate People’s Court has accepted Wingtech’s lawsuit against Nexperia and its Dutch entities under the Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law, escalating a cross-border semiconductor dispute. Wingtech, identified as Nexperia’s Chinese owner, is seeking restoration of full control and about $1.1 billion in damages after Dutch government actions last year blocked its oversight on national-security grounds.

The case is one of the first major semiconductor tests of China’s Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law and may become a precedent for Chinese companies whose overseas assets face foreign government restrictions. It also highlights China’s use of domestic litigation to push back against Western de-risking measures, with the dispute likely to play out in Dutch courts and diplomacy as well.
