Leaked Contracts Allege Russia Supplied Iran Hundreds of Missiles Under Su-35 Fighter Jet Deal
Leaked Russian contracts cited by Ukraine’s United24 indicate Moscow may have supplied Iran with missiles tied to Tehran’s Su-35 fighter jet contracts, a claim that surfaced after President Vladimir Putin said earlier Friday that Russia was not sending weapons to Iran. The documents were described as listing 120 X-38 laser-guided air-to-ground missiles, 123 R-73 short-range air-to-air missiles, 42 R-77 medium-range air-to-air missiles and 42 X-31 anti-radar or anti-ship missiles, with components ordered through 2027.
A separate account of the leak described the shipments as 240 air-to-air missiles and 82 anti-ship missiles supplied under existing defense contacts. If the documents are authentic, they would point to military cooperation beyond Putin’s public offer on Friday to provide Iran with enriched uranium for nuclear power generation and continue work on nuclear facilities, even as he said Tehran had not requested weapons deliveries and Moscow was not supplying them.
