S&P 500 Posts 6th Straight Record Close as Market Cap Hits $69 Trillion
The S&P 500 posted a sixth straight record close on Tuesday after earlier lifting the total market capitalization of companies in the index above $69 trillion for the first time. The latest advance gave the benchmark 24 record closes so far in 2026, a day after it finished at a record 7,599.9 and first traded above 7,600 intraday.
The gain left the index up nine sessions in a row and nine weeks in a row. If the S&P 500 finishes higher for the week, it would mark the benchmark's first 10-week winning streak since 1985.
