Cliffwater’s $31 Billion Corporate Lending Fund Caps Q2 Redemptions at 5% as Withdrawal Requests Hit 17%
Cliffwater’s $31 billion Corporate Lending Fund capped second-quarter redemptions at 5% after investors sought to withdraw about 17% of assets, leaving shareholders set to receive roughly a third of the amount requested. The fund had limited withdrawals to 7% in the prior quarter after investors requested about 14% back.
S&P Global Ratings lowered its outlook on the fund to negative from stable and warned that even the 5% redemption cap may not be enough to contain the pressure. Other major private-credit funds at Apollo Global, BlackRock and Blue Owl also enforced 5% redemption caps last quarter, pointing to broader strain across the industry.
