US Forces Intercept 2 Iranian Ballistic Missiles Targeting American Forces in Kuwait
U.S. Central Command said U.S. forces intercepted two Iranian ballistic missiles late Sunday that were targeting American forces based in Kuwait, adding that no American personnel were harmed. Kuwait had earlier said its air defenses were confronting hostile missile and drone attacks as sirens sounded across the country.
The exchange followed weekend U.S. strikes on Iranian radar and drone command-and-control sites in Goruk and on Qeshm Island after Iran shot down a U.S. MQ-1 drone over international waters, according to CENTCOM. Iran accused Washington of violating the ceasefire and said the strikes entitled it to take defensive measures, while Kuwait condemned what it described as repeated Iranian attacks on its territory.
