Saylor Says Strategy Would Buy 10-20 More Bitcoin for Every 1 Sold After First Sale Since 2022
Michael Saylor said Strategy would buy 10 to 20 Bitcoin for every one it sells after the company disclosed its first Bitcoin sale since 2022. In an SEC filing on Sunday, Strategy said it sold 32 Bitcoin between May 26 and May 31 for about $2.5 million, or an average net price of $77,135 a coin, and said the proceeds are expected to fund preferred stock distributions.
Strategy still held 843,706 Bitcoin as of May 31. The sale was its first since December 2022, when the company sold 704 Bitcoin for tax-loss harvesting before buying more back two days later, and it followed comments from Chief Executive Officer Phong Le that Strategy could make week-to-week or day-to-day sales if that supports long-term shareholder value.
