Polymarket's $118 Million Strategy Bitcoin-Sale Market Settles 'No' Despite 32-Bitcoin Sale Disclosure

businessprediction-markets 46 posts · 35 accounts

Polymarket settled a market on whether Strategy sold Bitcoin before the end of May to “No” after roughly $118 million of trading. The outcome came after Strategy disclosed in an SEC filing on June 1 that it sold 32 Bitcoin between May 26 and May 31 for about $2.5 million, at an average net price of $77,135 a coin, with proceeds expected to fund preferred stock dividends.

The transaction was Strategy’s first disclosed Bitcoin sale since 2022 and left the company with 843,706 Bitcoin as of May 31. The ruling prompted objections over whether later explanations changed how the contract’s original rules were applied; one trader who identified himself as the largest holder of YES shares said the decision cost him about $500,000. Polymarket had said it was aware of the dispute and set a 1 p.m. ET June 1 deadline for any clarification before the market proceeded to settlement.
