Nvidia, Microsoft Launch RTX Spark Windows PCs for Local AI With 1-Petaflop Superchip
Nvidia and Microsoft introduced RTX Spark, an Arm-based Windows PC platform designed to run AI workloads locally, alongside the Surface Laptop Ultra and additional systems planned from Dell, HP and Lenovo. The first devices are due this fall, and Nvidia says RTX Spark is a 1-petaflop superchip built to handle AI inference and agents on the device rather than only in the cloud.
The launch extends a three-year effort by the companies to recast Windows around on-device AI and marks Nvidia's push deeper into full PC platforms. Unsloth, a software collaborator on the platform, said laptops with 128GB of unified memory can train 120B-parameter models locally — including gpt-oss-120b without an internet connection — while pricing hasn't been disclosed and further details are expected at Microsoft's Build conference.
