SpaceX Markets IPO at $135 a Share, Targets $75 Billion Raise
SpaceX opened its IPO roadshow on Thursday, marketing 555.56 million Class A shares at an expected $135 each for a roughly $75 billion raise, as Wall Street’s biggest banks lined up investors for the offering. The company also began pitching the deal directly to retail buyers with a video featuring Chief Financial Officer Bret Johnsen linking its rocket, satellite and AI businesses ahead of a planned Nasdaq listing under the ticker SPCX.
Retail participation is a prominent part of the sale. SoFi began taking indications of interest, and Fidelity said SpaceX had reserved up to 30% of the offering for retail clients, leading the brokerage to lower eligibility to accounts with at least $2,000 from thresholds previously as high as $500,000. SpaceX’s IPO FAQ says the roadshow began June 4, the final share price will be set June 11 based on investor demand and market conditions, and trading is expected to start June 12.
