Indian investigators have concluded Pernod Ricard withheld the age and composition of its Scotch whisky imports to hide their true value and pay lower tariffs, setting off a legal fight after authorities asked the French spirits maker to pay $314 million in back taxes.
The matter adds to Pernod Ricard's challenges in India. Investigators also allege the company gave its Scotch whisky imports unique internal codenames in India.
