Nvidia Adopts Linux Foundation's OpenMDW-1.1 to Simplify Open Model Licensing
Nvidia is adopting the Linux Foundation's OpenMDW-1.1 framework across its open model families, including Cosmos, Isaac GR00T, Ising and Nemotron, in a move the company said will make open model licensing simpler and more consistent at scale. The framework uses a single legal structure across models, code, documentation and data.
The Linux Foundation described OpenMDW-1.1 as a permissive, unified legal framework purpose-built for AI models. Nvidia said applying one framework across those components should reduce friction for developers and enterprises building with open source.
