TSMC’s Wei Tells Taiwan Staff Profit-Sharing Payouts Will Rise More Than 30%
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Chief Executive Officer C.C. Wei told Taiwan-based employees their average profit-sharing payouts for this year should rise more than 30% from a year earlier, after staff raised concerns about the company’s incentive plans.
The figure gives more detail than TSMC’s earlier statement that profit-sharing would exceed last year’s level and follows its denial of rumors that bonuses would be cut 15%. Wei had already told employees first-quarter bonuses rose about 30% on average and will be paid on May 29; TSMC separately pays quarterly bonuses tied to individual and company performance and a separate profit-sharing payout. The company reported NT$572.5 billion ($18.2 billion) in March-quarter earnings.
