Bitcoin Falls Below $73,000, Ether Under $2,000 as Crypto Liquidations Hit $917 Million
Bitcoin fell below $73,000 and Ether dropped under $2,000 for the first time since March, extending a broad crypto selloff that triggered $917 million in liquidations over the past 24 hours. Long positions accounted for $859 million of the wipeout, highlighting the pressure on bullish bets.
The decline pulled the total crypto market capitalization down 3.2% to $2.53 trillion, the lowest level in the past month. It also drove the Crypto Fear & Greed Index down to 22 and pushed Bitcoin out of the top 10 global assets by market value, even as Ether futures open interest hit a record high.
