Samsung Plans $1.5 Billion Chip Testing Plant in Vietnam, Document Shows
Samsung Electronics plans to invest about $1.5 billion to build its first semiconductor testing plant in Vietnam, according to a document. The facility in Thai Nguyen province is already under construction and is expected to begin operations in November 2027.
The plant will focus on testing legacy DRAM and NAND chips, where supply remains tight as chipmakers shift more capacity toward high-end AI semiconductors. The project would add to Vietnam’s role as a semiconductor back-end hub, where Intel and Amkor already operate packaging and testing facilities.
