Trump Administration in Talks on Debt, Equity Funding for US Drone Makers in Pentagon’s $1.1 Billion Drone Dominance Program
The Trump administration is in talks to provide debt and equity funding to US drone companies including Unusual Machines, Neros Technologies and Performance Drone Works, as part of an effort to scale domestic manufacturing and bring unit costs down to about $5,000, the Wall Street Journal reported. Some of the proposals under discussion could give the US government ownership stakes in drone makers.
The talks are linked to the Pentagon’s $1.1 billion Drone Dominance program, which targets 300,000 low-cost attack drones by the end of 2027. The discussions would mark a more direct federal role in financing domestic drone production, and shares of drone makers and suppliers rallied after the report, though any agreements remain under negotiation.
