CME Launches 24/7 Crypto Futures Trading for Bitcoin, Ether and 7 Others
CME Group began 24/7 trading in crypto futures on May 29 at 4 p.m. CT, giving institutions round-the-clock access to contracts tied to Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, XRP, Cardano, Chainlink, Stellar, Avalanche and Sui.
The move ends the weekend closure behind the long-running “CME gap” between prices when the market shut and reopened. CME had previously said its Bitcoin futures and options would shift to a near-continuous schedule, with only a 60-minute maintenance pause each Sunday.
