Trump White House Adds English, E-Verify Rules to $1 Trillion in Federal Grants

politicsus-domestic-policy 5 posts · 5 accounts

The Trump White House is overhauling the distribution of roughly $1 trillion in federal grants by adding English-language and E-Verify requirements, according to a New York Post report. The changes, described as being directed by Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought, would also give political appointees final sign-off on federal distributions.

The report said the policy would have broad reach across the grant system, including about $85 billion a year at the Department of Health and Human Services and roughly $45 billion at the Department of Transportation. It also said federal distributions would be monitored more closely as the administration tightens control over grant awards.
