Bitwise, 21Shares Clients Add $68 Million of HYPE as Bitcoin, Ether Products Lose $1.2 Billion
Clients of Bitwise and 21Shares added $68 million worth of HYPE last week, with Bitwise ETF clients accounting for $35.9 million of that total, an 18-fold increase from the prior week. Separate wallet-tracking data showed Bitwise bought another 162,367 HYPE worth about $10.11 million over two hours, while the firm's website listed 723,361 HYPE valued at $40.37 million as of May 21.
The buying fits a broader rotation within crypto investment products. HYPE ETFs drew $72 million in their first week, while bitcoin and ether products lost about $1 billion and $215 million, respectively, and analysts said the pattern pointed to rotation rather than a broader exit from crypto. Bitwise's BHYP, which launched on the New York Stock Exchange on May 15, is the first HYPE ETF to be natively staked by the provider.
