Ryanair Warns Summer Fares Will Weaken as Jet Fuel Shortage Risk Recedes

businesscompany-earningsenergy-marketsoil 11 posts · 6 accounts

Ryanair said ticket prices will weaken during its peak summer months and stopped short of providing profit guidance because of uncertainty about demand and fuel supply. The budget carrier also warned costs could rise this year if unhedged jet fuel prices remain at current levels, alongside higher bills for crew and aircraft maintenance.

At the same time, Ryanair said the threat of jet-fuel shortages is receding as suppliers adapt to the prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz, with Europe continuing to be well supplied and refiners and airlines confident shortages can be avoided. The airline has hedged 80% of its FY27 jet fuel needs at $668 per metric tonne, while CEO O'Leary said it could remain unhedged on fuel for summer 2027 until about September or October this year.
