OpenAI Founding Member Andrej Karpathy Joins Anthropic to Help Train New AI Models
Andrej Karpathy said he has joined Anthropic, describing the next few years at the frontier of large language models as especially formative and saying he wanted to get back to research and development. He added that he remains deeply passionate about education and plans to resume that work in time.
Karpathy, a founding member of OpenAI who later worked at Tesla, is joining Anthropic to help train new AI models. Separate reporting said he will join Nick Joseph’s pretraining team and start a group that will use Claude itself for research.
