Anthropic Adds Separate Credits to Paid Claude Plans for Programmatic Use
Anthropic said paid Claude plans will get a separate monthly credit for programmatic usage starting June 15, moving SDK and tool-driven workloads off the subscription limits used for Claude Code and chat. The credit will cover the Claude Agent SDK, claude -p, Claude Code GitHub Actions and third-party apps built on the Agent SDK, including tools such as Conductor and OpenClaw.
Credits range from $20 for Pro plans to $200 for Max 20x, while Team Standard receives $20 a seat and Team Premium $100 a seat; Enterprise amounts vary by seat type. After users claim the credit, programmatic usage will draw from it automatically, then shift to optional API-rate billing when the monthly balance is exhausted or pause until the next billing-cycle reset if extra usage credits are turned off, and unused credits do not roll over. Some developers criticized the change as a reduction in subsidized automation and third-party tool usage, with one saying it would cut available usage by 25x.
