Alibaba Misses Revenue Estimates as Cloud Unit Revenue Jumps 38%
Alibaba Group reported revenue of RMB243.38 billion ($35.3 billion) for the quarter ended March 31, rising 3% from a year earlier but coming in below expectations. The company posted an operating loss of RMB848 million and net income of RMB25.5 billion as it seeks to turn its AI investments into a broader growth driver.
Cloud Intelligence Group revenue rose 38% to RMB41.63 billion ($6.04 billion), while AI-related cloud product revenue recorded triple-digit growth. Alibaba said it remains confident in its business outlook and will continue investing in AI and cloud to strengthen its competitive advantages.
