DeepMind Spinout Isomorphic Labs Raises $2.1 Billion for AI Drug Discovery
Isomorphic Labs, an AI drug discovery company spun out of Google DeepMind and led by Demis Hassabis, said it raised $2.1 billion in its second external funding round, led by Thrive Capital. Other investors named in the announcement include Alphabet, GV, CapitalG, Abu Dhabi’s MGX, Singapore’s Temasek and the UK Sovereign AI Fund.
The company said the funding will help it build and deploy the AI models behind its drug-design engine at scale, expand therapeutic programs toward the clinic across multiple therapeutic areas and broaden its global footprint. Hassabis said the work builds on AlphaFold and is aimed at using AI to improve human health.
