Ronin Moves to Ethereum Layer 2, Cutting RON Inflation Below 1%

Ronin will transition from an independent gaming sidechain to an Ethereum Layer 2 network based on the OP Stack on May 12, ending its operation as a standalone sidechain since 2021. The migration is expected to cause about 10 hours of downtime and cut RON annual inflation from more than 20% to below 1%.

Ronin was previously hit by a roughly $625 million bridge exploit in 2022, one of the largest cross-chain bridge hacks in decentralized finance.
