Cerebras Rebuffs Arm and SoftBank Acquisition Approach Ahead of IPO

businessmergers-acquisitionsaiai-infrastructureai-compute-chipsrumors 28 posts · 20 accounts

Arm and its majority owner SoftBank made a preliminary approach to acquire Cerebras Systems weeks before the AI computing firm's expected initial public offering, but Cerebras rebuffed the effort, according to people familiar with the matter. The approach surfaced as the company prepared to price its stock-market debut.

Cerebras had already increased the deal to 30 million shares at $150 to $160 each, up from 28 million shares at $115 to $125, seeking as much as $4.8 billion. It was also guiding investors that the IPO could price above the marketed range after demand reportedly exceeded the shares available by more than 20 times, implying a valuation of about $34 billion.
