Berkshire Hathaway Cash Hoard Reaches Record $397 Billion as Stock Sales Continue
Berkshire Hathaway's cash, cash equivalents and US Treasury bills rose to a record $397 billion in the first quarter of 2026, with the total nearly quadrupling since 2022.
The buildup coincided with Berkshire selling $24.1 billion of stocks and buying $15.9 billion in the quarter, leaving it a net seller of $8.1 billion and extending its streak of net equity sales to 14 straight quarters, the longest in the company's history.
