China Exports Rebound as Chip Export Value Nearly Doubles in April
China’s exports rebounded in April and the trade surplus widened after a sluggish March, with detailed trade figures showing chips and computing equipment accounted for roughly half of the overall export growth. Exports rose 14.1% from a year earlier ahead of Trump’s visit, while imports increased 25.3%.
Chip export volume rose 3.7%, but export value nearly doubled, up 99.6%, as global demand for AI computing supported higher semiconductor shipments. Integrated-circuit imports climbed 54.7%, highlighting the strength of AI- and chip-related trade on both the export and import sides.
