Suncor Tops Quarterly Profit Estimates as Higher Output Cushions Oil Turmoil
Canada's Suncor topped quarterly profit estimates as higher production and refining activity helped offset turmoil in oil markets. The company said upstream production rose to 875,000 barrels a day in the quarter from 853,000 barrels a day a year earlier.
Refinery throughput increased by 15,000 barrels a day to 498,000 barrels a day, with utilization at 97%, underscoring stronger operating performance across its downstream business.
