Anthropic Says 80x Growth Spurs SpaceX Colossus 1 Deal for Claude
Anthropic Chief Executive Dario Amodei said first-quarter annualized growth in the company’s revenue and usage reached 80 times, far above the 10-fold increase it had planned for, helping explain the compute shortages that led it to partner with SpaceX. Anthropic said the agreement gives it all of the compute capacity at SpaceX’s Colossus 1 data center, adding more than 300 megawatts within a month to support Claude.
The company had earlier said the added capacity, along with other recent compute deals, would let it raise usage limits for Claude Code and the Claude API as demand for its AI services climbed.
