Brent Falls Below $100 Again as WTI Slips Under $92
Oil extended its retreat on Thursday, with Brent crude falling back below $100 a barrel and WTI dropping under $92 in early trading. The latest move came as traders continued to watch U.S.-Iran tensions and risks around the Strait of Hormuz, even as crude prices kept reversing the prior session’s pattern.
The decline adds to Wednesday’s selloff, when oil settled sharply lower as optimism over a possible U.S.-Iran agreement reduced fears of a prolonged supply disruption through the strait. By Thursday morning, Brent was down 17% from its March 31 high, refined product prices were also lower, and the U.S. national average gasoline price stood at $4.56 a gallon.
