Germany Cuts Tax Outlook as Federal Revenue Seen €52 Billion Lower Through 2030
Germany's tax panel cut its revenue outlook, saying total tax receipts from 2026 through 2030 will be €87.5 billion lower than forecast in October, including a €52.3 billion shortfall in federal revenue. For this year, federal tax revenue is expected to be €9.9 billion below the earlier estimate, state revenue €3.0 billion lower and municipal revenue €4.3 billion short; next year's federal revenue is projected to be €10.1 billion below the October forecast.
Germany's finance minister said Trump's war in Iran and the resulting energy price shock were putting the brakes on economic momentum. He said uncertainty persists and called for continuous crisis management and preparation to act if the situation worsens.
