Novo Nordisk Lifts Guidance After Wegovy Pill Sales Beat Forecasts
Novo Nordisk raised its 2026 guidance for adjusted sales and adjusted operating profit after first-quarter results were boosted by the launch of its Wegovy pill. The drugmaker reported net sales of $15.2 billion in the quarter, with Wegovy pill sales of $354 million, and said adjusted sales are now expected to decline 4% to 12% at constant exchange rates this year, compared with a prior forecast for a 5% to 13% drop.
Demand for the oral obesity treatment accelerated after its January debut. Total prescriptions reached about 1.3 million in the first quarter and have exceeded 2 million since launch, while the company said more than 1 million patients have used the pill since January.
