Shell Cuts Buyback Even as $6.9 Billion Profit Beats Estimates
Shell cut its share buyback to $3 billion from $3.5 billion in the previous three months, even as first-quarter profit beat estimates and reached $6.9 billion, its highest in two years, as higher oil and gas prices linked to the Middle East war lifted results.
Profit rose from $5.58 billion a year earlier. Shell's CFO said surplus cash is intended for future share buybacks.
