Cloud Providers Reserve Nvidia GPUs, Raising Waits for AI Startups
AI startups are struggling to secure Nvidia GPUs as cloud providers including Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet and CoreWeave reserve more capacity for internal teams and larger AI customers, according to The Information. The report said providers are diverting GPU stockpiles toward in-house use and bigger cloud customers, tightening access for smaller AI firms.
The shortage is leading to higher prices, months-long wait times and longer contract commitments. At Microsoft’s Azure cloud, employees expect GPU delays for customers to persist through the end of 2026, The Information said.
